Life Cycle

  1. The male and females mate.
  2. Females lay 6 to 10 eggs in a hole. The eggs will stay in the nest all winter long. They will hatch, but not leave the nest until spring.
  3. Spring arrives and the baby turtles come out of the nest.
  4. They will eat meat and grow to adult size in 8 to 9 years.
  5. The turtle will die or mate and the cycle starts all over.
